About Me

“If you can paint one leaf you can paint the world.” John Ruskin

Heather was born in Montreal in 1964. With her family she spent her first few years in Africa and then moved to Toronto. She attended primary school and high school in Don Mills and for her post secondary education Heather attended the Ontario Collage of Art (now OCAD university) where she studied textile design.

After raising her family, Heather began to study painting with Barry McCarthy. Landscape was the original focus, yet as pieces were painted, Heather found she was making plants the primary subject of her works. Eventually Heather felt a very strong pull towards beginning an in-depth study of Botanical Art. Over the past five years she has been tutored by artists in Canada, the US, and the UK.

She works mainly in watercolour and oil to create detailed portraits of leaves and flowers. Landscapes, portraits, and still life continue to be occasional subjects.
